The Advent-Christmas Framework for Your Work

ree

The Advent-Christmas cycle gives you the framework you need to process the ups and downs of your work.

Advent is for all the broken and unresolved elements of your work. The season of Advent begins four Sundays before Christmas. It is a season of anticipation and longing. It is marked by Scriptures that look ahead to the arrival of Christ and of his deliverance.

Stuck in a job that brings you no joy? Looking for work without a strong lead in sight? Facing the reality that something life-giving in your work is coming to an end? Mustering the strength for yet another pivot because of changing market/business conditions? These incomplete and painful parts of our work connect with the longing of Advent.

Oh come, oh come, Emmanuel, and ransom captive Israel.

Christmas is for all the joyful moments and accomplishments of our work. It is the season of light and warmth, hope and celebration. Perhaps you saw the gifts of God in your work this year–a milestone achieved, a vital project accomplished, a sticky problem faced with wisdom. Maybe you saw the love of God flow through you to a colleague, client, or vendor, as you noticed them, spoke words of life to them, or prayed for them.

Joy to the World, the Lord is Come, Let earth receive her king.

At VOCA, we celebrate the God who is with us–both in the longing and the fulfillment, in the dark times of waiting and in the bright times of blessing. And we look forward to walking with you through both, through coaching, new resources, and the online community.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Whether you’re in a season of waiting or celebration, you don’t have to navigate your work alone. VOCA coaches help you discern God’s movement in your career–through uncertainty, change, and growth. Schedule a consult to explore what that could look like for you.
